Brearly Evironmental Action Committee (BEAC)
As Co-Head of the Brearley Environmental Action Committee (BEAC), I’ve worked to make sustainability part of daily school life. From managing our community farm share to organizing Earth Day concerts and citywide sustainability conferences, BEAC brings environmental awareness to action through creativity and collaboration. Whether redesigning waste signage, hosting panels, or running schoolwide thrift events, I’ve learned how small-scale efforts can inspire lasting cultural change.

Our BEAC Co-op: The Sustainable Farm CSA

This is our BEAC Co-op, a sustainable farm CSA that we run several times a year for six to eight weeks per session. We partner with three incredible local businesses — Brooklyn Grange Farm, Ardith Mae Cheese Stand, and Bread Alone Bakery — to bring fresh, seasonal produce to the Brearley community.
The co-op helps lower our school’s carbon footprint, supports local farmers and artisans, and strengthens our connection to sustainable food systems. Each week, we hand-pack every bag ourselves and run the stand after school, making local, eco-friendly eating accessible to students, families, and faculty alike.
