As part of Developments in Literacy's (DIL) summer programming, I created and taught environmental lessons for students across Pakistan, combining science, accessibility, and creativity. The bilingual program reached over seventy students in five schools, exploring climate change, renewable energy, and sustainability through interactive discussions and hands-on activities. Pakistan in particular is among the countries most impacted by climate change, experiencing droughts, monsoon rains, water scarcity, rapidly rising temperatures, and more. These lessons were designed to empower students with climate knowledge to recognize how their own communities can lead local solutions to global challenges.

Slideshows

Below are the five slideshow presentations from the environmental seminar series. Each day focused on a different theme, designed to help students explore both global and local aspects of environmental change, and how they can make a difference in their own communities:

Day 1: Climate Change

Day 2: Water Scarcity

Day 3: Pollution

Day 4: Renewable Energy

Day 5: Student-Selected Topic — Plants and the Environment

For the final lesson, students chose topics they were most curious about. This featured session focuses on plants — their role in ecosystems and we can protect them.

Day 1: Exploring the causes, impacts, and solutions to our changing climate.
